LVT Digital Film Output

The Chicago Albumen Works has been making enlarged negatives for clients for alternative printing processes for the past 15 years. During that time the technology has changed, films have disappeared, and we are now faced with the digital age and pixels instead of grain. We are pleased to announce that we have been able to bridge the gap between digital and traditional photographic processes. LVT, or Light Valve Technology Film Recorders offer us the capabilities to produce truly continuous tone films on stable silver media.

Although having the capability of producing high quality digital files on continuous tone films, the LVT requires certain image parameters in order to achieve optimum results when outputting to film. Just as in a traditional photographic system, the protocols of imaging apply in the digital arena. We can scan from negatives, or output from files which have been sent to us. It is important to check our guidelines before sending anything in. This is the best way to ensure that you receive a negative which will be suited to the needs of your particular project. For files which require Adobe Photoshop© retouching or manipulation we are obligated to charge an hourly rate. If you have any special needs we are willing to discuss them on a project to project basis.
